Keep oxygen cylinders a minimum of 25 feet from flammable gas cylinders. If this is impractical, separate the cylinders with a 5-foot-high fireproof barrier, such as a cinder block or brick wall. Store all cylinders in a location where they are not exposed to mechanical or physical damage,

Separate the cylinders in a dry, well-ventilated storage area away from any source of heat such as open flames, space heaters or heating vents. Keep cylinders away from any other means of ignition such as electrical sparks or welding activity. Never expose cylinders to a temperature above 125 degrees Fahrenheit.

6
Use chalk to mark empty cylinders with the word "empty" or the letters "MT." Store used cylinders away from full cylinders to avoid confusion.

7
Display a warning sign marked "Beware--Storage of flammable material" directly above stored cylinders.

8
Keep valve protection caps on cylinders during storage or transportation. The only time these caps should be removed is when the cylinder is in use.

9
Check-tighten cylinder valves when not in active use and before placing cylinders in storage.
